Martha Stroo extends term as climate mayor of Bodegraven-Reeuwijk

Martha Stroo has extended her term as the climate mayor of Bodegraven-Reeuwijk for another year. Her primary focus remains the development of De Groene Fundatie, a local network designed to connect various social organizations working toward a more sustainable and social municipality.

The initiative, which originated from the idea that many sustainability efforts operate in isolation, aims to increase visibility and strength through collaboration. Current members of the network include the municipality, MijnKlimaatpartij, the Energy Cooperative, and ZonopReBo. The foundation was initially spearheaded by Stichting Fairtrade Bodegraven-Reeuwijk in October 2024, using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a shared framework.

Key objectives for the upcoming period include the establishment of a climate advisory council. This council is intended to provide both requested and unsolicited advice regarding municipal plans that impact the living environment. Additionally, Stroo will utilize her professional background as a photographer to document and promote local sustainable initiatives.
