Martial artists RENA and Rei Tsuruya support Kumamoto earthquake recovery

As part of the ‘Martial Arts Kumamoto Reconstruction Support Project,’ martial artists RENA and Rei Tsuruya participated in relief activities in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture, on September 21, 2026. The initiative, involving five martial arts organizations, aimed to support those affected by the Kumamoto earthquake.

At Yatsushiro City Fourth Junior High School, approximately 200 participants, including many children, engaged in a martial arts experience. RENA, a Shoot Boxing world champion, and UFC fighter Rei Tsuruya participated in mitt training sessions, talk shows, and autograph signings.

Following the interactive event, the athletes assisted the NPO Peace Project in preparing and distributing 240 servings of yakisoba at a local community center. The meals were delivered to residents, including those currently living in evacuation shelters.
