Marítimo celebrates 116th anniversary

The Madeiran sports institution Marítimo is celebrating its 116th anniversary. The milestone was marked by various initiatives, including a celebratory gathering at the club's sports complex in Santo António.

Club president Carlos André Gomes described the anniversary as particularly special due to the team's return to the I Liga, the top tier of Portuguese football. Gomes emphasized the importance of maintaining the club's identity and its connection to Madeira. Regarding the current season, the president noted that results after the first seven rounds are aligned with the club's expectations, with a primary goal of securing league maintenance.
