Muhammad Ans, 29, was found guilty of four counts of rape involving three women he met through dating apps – Bumble, Baddoo and Tinder – between 2023 and 2025. A fortnight‑long trial at Plymouth Crown Court resulted in a 20‑year prison term, followed by three years on extended licence, and a lifetime placement on the Sex Offenders Register.

The first victim was contacted via Bumble, met in late 2023, and was taken to Ans’s accommodation in Coventry where she was raped, with a second assault occurring in early 2024. After a brief contact in August 2024, she confronted Ans, who apologized and offered monetary compensation. The second victim was met through Baddoo after Ans had moved to a flat in Tavistock; she was also taken to his flat and raped despite clearly refusing consent. A third victim, identified in August 2025, reported a rape after meeting Ans on Tinder.

Detective Constable Craig Ferguson led the investigation, locating Ans after he fled to Leeds. In court, Ans denied the offences but admitted meeting the victims, and claimed the sexual contact was consensual. The sentencing judge affirmed the severity of the crimes and the need for a substantial custodial term.
