Martin Engelhardt enters race for DOSB presidency

Martin Engelhardt, the current President of the German Triathlon Union (DTU) and Vice President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), has officially announced his candidacy for the DOSB presidency. He will compete against Michael Mronz, an IOC member who was recommended by a search committee to succeed Thomas Weikert.

Engelhardt, 66, has led the DTU across two terms (1987–2001 and since 2011) and has served as a leading orthopedist for the German Olympic delegation. He intends to dedicate himself fully to the DOSB starting in April 2027, following the conclusion of his role as Chief Physician at Osnabrück Clinic.

The election is scheduled to take place on December 5, 2026, during the DOSB general assembly in Frankfurt am Main. Engelhardt’s nomination was submitted by the DTU in conjunction with other DOSB member associations.
