Martin Fenin discusses alcohol and drug use

Former Czech footballer Martin Fenin has spoken openly about his struggles with alcohol and drug use during an appearance on the podcast ‘The Cast’. Fenin, who had a notable career including scoring a hat-trick in his Bundesliga debut, stated that he considers himself an alcoholic but claims he is not dependent on the substance.

He described consuming up to three bottles of vodka a day, noting that he views drinking as a form of entertainment and believes he could stop immediately if he chose to. Fenin attributed his issues to the psychological strain of living in Germany without close family or friends, using substances to suppress negative emotions. He also mentioned occasional drug use, though he denied being a ‘junkie’.

Fenin noted that his alcohol consumption was a factor in his divorce and continues to impact his personal life, including limiting the time he spends with his daughter.
