Martin Kalináč announces battle with oncological disease

Former Slovak hockey player and coach Martin Kalináč, 34, has announced that he is battling an oncological disease. Kalináč, known for his work with HC Slovan Bratislava and as a television hockey expert, shared the news on social media, stating that his life changed significantly on February 13.

Kalináč expressed deep gratitude to his family, his medical team, and the HC Slovan Bratislava organization for their support. He specifically praised his doctors for providing hope during his treatment and noted that the club has provided the necessary conditions for him to focus on his health while remaining involved in the community. He also included a critique regarding the state of the healthcare system, noting that the state is not functioning effectively in this regard.
