Martin Lidegaard and Morten Messerschmidt face court ruling
A legal dispute between prominent Danish politicians Morten Messerschmidt, chairman of the Danish People's Party, and Martin Lidegaard, leader of the Social Liberal Party (Radikale Venstre), is approaching a verdict. The case stems from a debate on November 10, 2025, during which Lidegaard allegedly accused Messerschmidt of wanting to intern thousands of people based solely on skin color.
The two politicians met at the Frederiksberg Court to clarify the dispute. Three judges are scheduled to deliver a decision on October 16. Political analysts, including Henrik Qvortrup and Joachim B. Olsen, suggest that a legal defeat would be a “catastrophe” for Lidegaard’s reputation, as he failed to retract the controversial statements.
