Martin Necas begins $92 million Avalanche contract extension

Martin Necas is entering the first season of an eight-year, $92 million contract extension with the Colorado Avalanche following a career-best performance. During the 2025-26 season, Necas recorded 100 points, consisting of 38 goals and 62 assists in 78 games.

Necas, who joined the Avalanche from the Carolina Hurricanes in January 2025, has spoken highly of playing alongside teammate Nathan MacKinnon. He noted that while MacKinnon maintains a stern expression, they share a similar intense drive to win. The two forwards worked to adjust their positioning on the ice, particularly during power play opportunities.

The long-term deal, which carries an average annual value of $11.5 million, keeps Necas in Denver through the 2033-34 season. The extension follows a season where Necas established himself as a core offensive player within Colorado’s fast-paced system.
