France denies entry to activist Martin Sellner
French authorities have denied entry to Austrian activist Martin Sellner at Beauvais airport, announcing his planned deportation. Sellner, a prominent figure in the Identitarian movement, had traveled to Paris to host a book signing for his work titled “Remigration.”
In conjunction with Sellner’s detention, French officials, acting on instructions from Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, have banned a “remigration” congress scheduled for Saturday in a Paris suburb and a demonstration planned for Sunday in Paris. Regional authorities justified the bans by stating the events were based on a “xenophobic and racist ideology” that views migrants as a fundamental threat to European countries.
The enforcement comes amid heightened political tensions in France, occurring six months before presidential elections and following a recent racially motivated shooting near Paris. Sellner, who is active with the “Save Europe Act” initiative, criticized the move on social media, stating, “You can stop people but not ideas.”
