Martina Cardamone, a former participant on the television program ‘Uomini e Donne’, has been hospitalized in Sassari, Sardinia, following a serious eye injury. While vacationing with her family, Cardamone experienced intense ocular pain that led to an emergency admission.

Medical examinations revealed a severe corneal lesion accompanied by an abscess. The injury is reportedly linked to the incorrect use of contact lenses. Cardamone is expected to remain in the hospital for several days as medical professionals monitor the situation to prevent permanent damage to her vision.

The incident has highlighted the importance of proper contact lens hygiene. Health experts, including those from the Humanitas Clinical Institute, advise against using expired lenses, emphasize the necessity of changing storage solutions every 24 hours for non-daily lenses, and warn against wearing lenses in water or swimming pools to avoid infection.
