Martina Strahija presents book inspired by Tanzania volunteering

Photographer and humanitarian Martina Strahija presented her new book, ‘Bijeli anđeli’ (White Angels), at the Museum of Međimurje in Čakovec. The book is a collection of personal experiences and stories gathered over seven years of volunteering with children in Tanzania.

Strahija’s work has primarily focused on children with albinism at the St. Francis of Assisi School in Bomang’ombe, a facility that provides a safe haven for children facing discrimination and violence due to local superstitions. The title ‘White Angels’ is a term of endearment Strahija used for the children she cared for.

The book launch also featured the premiere of the music video ‘We Are The World,’ created in collaboration with students from Josip Slavenski Gymnasium, children from the school in Tanzania, and Tanzanian rap artist Dogojanya. Proceeds from the book sales are dedicated to the construction of Vero’s Home, a facility for children lacking appropriate parental care.
