Martine Tomić tours dance performance in Croatia

Martine Tomić is touring her new dance performance, ‘Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders’, through several Croatian cities this summer. The production explores the phenomenon of overthinking through a blend of dance, movement, and a lecture-style format.

The performance aims to bridge a popular-scientific approach to overthinking with poetic self-reflection. Tomić investigates the linguistic challenge of translating the term into Croatian and seeks a physical equivalent for the state of excessive thought. The creative process draws initial inspiration from Shakespeare’s Hamlet—a character synonymous with overthinking—before shifting toward the artist's own personal and professional reflections on whether overthinking acts as a mental block or a superpower.

The tour includes performances in Zadar, Dubrovnik, and Split. In Split, the show is scheduled for August 26 at the Dom mladih Small Stage.
