Martinelli receives first Brazil national team call-up

Fluminense midfielder Martinelli has joined the Brazil national football team following a call-up to replace Chelsea attacker João Pedro, who suffered a knee injury.

In an interview with CBF TV, the 24-year-old expressed that the selection is a “dream come true.” Martinelli, who has played professionally for Fluminense since 2020 and has no prior history with Brazil's youth national teams, noted that he received advice from Thiago Silva regarding the transition. He expressed gratitude to Fluminense for his development and stated his intention to work hard under coach Carlo Ancelotti.
