Martín Herrero teaches hand-sewing footballs in Argentina
Martín Herrero, a former businessman and father of five, has transitioned into teaching the intricate craft of hand-sewing footballs in Trenque Lauquen, Argentina. The process involves complex stages, including digital printing of synthetic materials, die-cutting 32 geometric panels, and manual stitching using high-resistance nylon thread.
To ensure quality, artisans sew the pieces inside-out through a small opening, allowing the ball to be inverted so the seams remain internal before the latex or butyl bladder is inserted. Herrero, originally from Salazar and a lifelong football enthusiast, developed these skills following personal and professional hardships after moving to Trenque Lauquen.
