Political leaders announce new security and economic plans in Argentina and Dominican Republic

Various political leaders and officials are presenting new security initiatives and political agendas across Argentina and the Dominican Republic.

In Argentina, Jorge Macri, the Chief of Government of Buenos Aires, expressed support for President Javier Milei’s economic plan during an international visit. Locally, Macri highlighted security measures in the city, including police operations in popular neighborhoods and the recovery of occupied properties. Meanwhile, in Tres de Febrero, Martín Jofré of the Movimiento Derecho al Futuro (MDF) proposed an integral security plan. The proposal includes allocating 15% to 20% of the municipal budget to security, creating a Municipal Police force, and installing 1,500 cameras to combat drug trafficking and theft.

In the Dominican Republic, Interior and Police Minister Faride Raful has implemented a security program targeting ten prioritized sectors. In the Villas Agrícolas neighborhood of the Distrito Nacional, authorities have installed street lighting and security cameras. Residents have expressed mixed but generally positive feedback, noting increased lighting and a perceived sense of tranquility, though some community leaders suggest the process of reducing crime is ongoing.
