San Juan Marathon 2026 Boosts Economy and Community with Record Participation

The 2026 edition of the International Marathon in San Juan attracted 7,694 tourists and generated an estimated economic impact of nearly US$5 billion, with hotel occupancy reaching 61% province‑wide. The majority of visitors were domestic, while international guests came mainly from Chile, Paraguay, Brazil, Belgium and France.

The event was complemented by a record‑breaking Run Kids 2026 race, which saw more than 700 children take part in a day of sport, recreation and an environmental recycling campaign. The city also staged artistic and cultural interventions along the race route, with Mayor Susana Laciar joining participants and highlighting the blend of sport and culture.

In the elite competition, Martín León of Esquel won the men's 42‑km race in 2 h 30 m 38 s, while María Emilia Antille of Santa Fe claimed the women’s title in 2 h 58 m 17 s. Additionally, San Juan will host the III National Congress of Inclusive Sport in October, gathering experts and officials to promote equitable access to sport across the country.
