Martín Palermo returns as Platense head coach

Martín Palermo has begun his second tenure as the head coach of Platense, signing a contract through December 2028. He succeeds Walter Zunino following a difficult period for the club, which currently sits 27th in the annual table with only four victories this season.

Palermo expressed a strong desire to help the club during its current struggle, noting that his decision to return was motivated by the institutional support and his familiarity with the organization. Alongside Club President Gastón Arcieri, Palermo inspected renovated facilities in Vicente López that meet CONMEBOL standards for the upcoming Copa Libertadores competition.

Palermo is set to make his debut this Saturday against Independiente in Avellaneda. His coaching staff includes Diego Cagna and Damián Leyes. The return comes amid a complex internal climate for the club, which is simultaneously managing the Clausura tournament, the Copa Argentina, and the Copa Libertadores round of 16.
