Martín the rooster remains at Bolivian hospital after owner's death
A rooster named Martín has lived at the entrance of the Instituto Oncológico del Oriente Boliviano in Santa Cruz de la Sierra for approximately eight years. The bird arrived at the facility in a vehicle accompanying its owner, an oncology patient.
Following the death of the owner, Martín remained at the hospital entrance. He has since become a well-known figure among hospital staff, patients, and local residents. The community provides him with food and water, and some individuals assist by trimming his spurs to prevent injury.
Due to his perceived loyalty, social media users have referred to him as the “Bolivian Hachiko,” drawing a comparison to the famous Japanese Akita dog that waited for its deceased owner at a train station.
