Former Peruvian Presidents Toledo and Vizcarra Hospitalized
Two former presidents of Peru, Alejandro Toledo and Martín Vizcarra, have been hospitalized following health emergencies while serving sentences at the Barbadillo prison.
Alejandro Toledo, 80, was transferred to the Hospital II Vitarte in Ate after experiencing severe hypertension and chest pains. Toledo is currently serving sentences for corruption and money laundering related to the Odebrecht case and the Ecoteva investigation.
Martín Vizcarra was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (UCI) at a hospital in Ate after being treated for renal colic. During his initial care in the trauma shock area, medical staff detected cardiac complications that necessitated his transfer to intensive care.
