Martovski Festival begins in Belgrade with 26 film premieres
The 72/73 Martovski Festival, a prominent documentary and short film event in Belgrade, has commenced at the Dom omladine Beograda. The festival opened with the Serbian premiere of ‘The Story of Siljan’, a documentary by the internationally acclaimed Macedonian director Tamara Kotevska, known for her Oscar-nominated work ‘Honeyland’.
The program features a diverse selection of domestic and international documentary, short fiction, animated, and experimental films. This year’s edition includes 26 premieres across various categories, including world, regional, Serbian, Belgrade, and festival premieres. The selection aims to provide insight into contemporary global film trends and the current state of domestic cinema.
Organizers noted that the festival serves as a vital space for inspiration and dialogue within the film community. The event runs through September 27, offering a two-year selection of films to compensate for the previous year when the festival was not held.
