Marty Gleeson wins Best Newcomer at Edinburgh Fringe Comedians’ Choice Awards

Irish comedian Marty Gleeson has been named Best Newcomer at the Comedians’ Choice Awards during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Gleeson received the honor following the debut of her full-length solo show, ‘Dog Ear’. The awards, which are decided by votes from participating comedy shows rather than a judging panel, were hosted by Alison Spittle.

Gleeson’s performance in ‘Dog Ear’ has been described as an offbeat and imaginative set characterized by non sequitur comedy and unexpected elements, including the use of a bodhrán and various surreal personas. Other notable winners at the ceremony included Kate Dolan, whose show ‘Trout’ was named Best Show, and Claire McCluskey, who received the Best Person award.
