Marty O’Donnell faces venue rejection for Halo tournament

Marty O’Donnell, the composer known for the Halo video game series, is facing difficulties organizing a Halo LAN tournament in Las Vegas due to his political campaign. O’Donnell, who is running as a Republican candidate for Nevada’s third congressional district, intended to host the event at the HyperX Arena, located in the Luxor Hotel & Casino, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise.

O’Donnell reported that after initial discussions, the venue sent a formal letter rejecting the event, citing his “political affiliations.” The composer stated that the decision appeared to be a form of cancellation based on his Republican candidacy. Despite the venue change, O’Donnell expressed intentions to proceed with the tournament at an alternative location using original consoles and equipment.
