Maru Campos endorses Marco Bonilla for Chihuahua governorship

Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos has signaled her support for Chihuahua City Mayor Marco Bonilla as a potential candidate for the state governorship. During Bonilla’s fifth government report, Campos encouraged him to take the “surprising results” of his municipal administration to the entire state.

Campos framed the National Action Party (PAN) project as a source of hope for citizens against the Morena party, which she characterized as using fear as a tool of domination. The event was attended by several prominent political figures, including Xóchitl Gálvez, Santiago Creel, and PAN National Executive Committee President Jorge Romero, as well as Coahuila Governor Manolo Jiménez.

While Bonilla has not officially announced a candidacy due to legal and party timelines, he expressed his intention to challenge Morena in the 2027 elections. He emphasized a political project rooted in faith, stating, “I prepare the horse for the battle, but it is God who gives the victory.” The gathering also suggested potential cross-party alliances, with representatives from the PRI also in attendance.
