Maruli Simanjuntak inspects Indonesian border infrastructure

Maruli Simanjuntak, Head of the National Agency for the Management of Borders and Remote Areas (BNPPDT), has conducted a series of inspections across several Indonesian border regions to assess infrastructure needs and community welfare.

In North Sulawesi, Simanjuntak visited Miangas Island in the Talaud Islands Regency to evaluate the Indonesia-Philippines border area. His visit included inspections of the Miangas Border Security Post, Nanusa Miangas Junior High School, and the Border Crossing Station (BCS). Key priorities identified include basic infrastructure such as village roads and boreholes, as well as school revitalization.

In North Kalimantan, Simanjuntak inspected the Krayan Lembudud Border Security Post and the Krayan–Malinau road to assess connectivity along the Indonesia-Malaysia border. He emphasized the necessity of synergy between the TNI and BNPPDT in managing remote areas. Simanjuntak noted that road construction projects in North Kalimantan, planned by the President, are expected to begin implementation in 2027 to improve regional connectivity.
