Maruti Suzuki leads India used car market share in 2026
Data from Cars24’s internal transactions through July 2026 reveals a highly concentrated used car market in India. Five brands—Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, Tata, and Mahindra—collectively account for 75.5% of sales on one of the country’s largest organized resale platforms.
Maruti Suzuki maintains a dominant position with a 33.2% market share. Unlike brands reliant on a single model, Maruti Suzuki shows broad demand across its lineup, including the Swift, Wagon R, and Swift Dzire. The Swift is identified as the best-selling used car overall, representing 4.8% of all sales.
Hyundai holds the second-largest share at 21.6%. Consumer preferences in the Indian used car market are heavily driven by brand trust, resale value, service network reach, and the availability of spare parts. Hatchbacks remain the most in-demand body style.
