Maruti Suzuki exports over 50,000 electric vehicles
Maruti Suzuki has surpassed 50,000 electric vehicle (EV) exports since beginning international shipments in August 2025. The company reported that its electric passenger vehicles accounted for nearly 93% of India’s total EV exports between April and September 2026.
The primary driver of this growth is the e Vitara, Suzuki’s first global battery-electric vehicle. Manufactured at the Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, the SUV is being shipped to approximately 50 countries, with Europe serving as the largest export destination. Other significant markets include Japan, which has become the second largest export market for the company in the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The Hansalpur plant, which received a cumulative investment of Rs 25,288.7 crore, recently expanded its annual production capacity to 1 million vehicles. This makes it the first Suzuki manufacturing facility worldwide to reach such a scale at a single location. Maruti Suzuki has maintained its position as India’s leading passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years.
