Marvel and Star Wars to launch first official crossover comic in 2027

Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm Publishing have announced ‘Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles’, the first official crossover event between the two franchises. The five-issue limited series is scheduled to launch in January 2027 and will conclude in May 2027, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the original ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’.

Written by Kevin Smith and illustrated by David Marquez, the story will take place within Marvel’s primary Earth-616 continuity. A reality-shattering spell will cause the events of the original Star Wars trilogy to unfold on Earth, bringing characters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca into direct contact with Marvel heroes such as Captain America, Spider-Man, and the Hulk.

The crossover will also feature significant villainous alliances, with Doctor Doom and Thanos reportedly joining forces with Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire. This historic collaboration marks a major narrative milestone for the two properties, which have shared a publishing history since 1977 but have never officially crossed over within a single unified story.
