Marvel and Star Wars announce first official comic crossover

Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm Publishing have announced 'Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles', the first official crossover between the Star Wars and Marvel franchises. The five-part comic book series is scheduled to debut in January 2027, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the release of 'A New Hope'.

Written by Kevin Smith and illustrated by David Marquez, the story will integrate Star Wars characters into the primary Marvel comic universe, Earth-616. The narrative reportedly begins when the Avengers witness the events of 'A New Hope' unfolding on Earth following a 'reality-shattering spell'.

Promotional images indicate a wide array of characters will participate, including Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader from the Star Wars universe, alongside Marvel heroes such as Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Hulk. Villains like Doctor Doom and Thanos are also expected to feature alongside the Galactic Empire.
