David Jonsson Named New Black Panther for December 2028 Release

Marvel Studios announced at the Hall H panel of San Diego Comic‑Con 2026 that British actor David Jonsson will portray T'Challa II, the son of the late Chadwick Boseman's hero, as the new Black Panther in the sequel titled Black Panther 3. Director Ryan Coogler is returning to helm the film and Marvel President Kevin Feige confirmed the casting during the same presentation. The movie is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on 15 December 2028.

Returning cast members include Letitia Wright as Shuri, Winston Duke as M'Baku, and reports indicate that Denzel Washington will also join the ensemble. Coogler reportedly held a secret meeting with Jonsson months before the public announcement, and the production will be filmed entirely on large‑format celluloid film.
