Marvel Casts David Jonsson as New Black Panther for 2028 Film

At the San Diego Comic‑Con, Marvel Studios announced that David Jonsson will portray T'Challa II, the son of the late king, in the upcoming Black Panther 3, scheduled for release on December 15, 2028. The sequel will continue the storyline introduced in the post‑credits scene of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Actress Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, said she is thrilled with Jonsson’s casting, describing him as “a special person with a good heart” and confirming she will return in the sequel and in the forthcoming Avengers: Doctor Doom. Co‑star Winston Duke, who plays M’Baku, also praised the decision, noting the emotional weight of carrying on Chadwick Boseman’s legacy. Director Ryan Coogler will return, and Wright and Duke are confirmed to reprise their roles.
