Marvel Comics launches Midnight horror imprint
Marvel Comics has launched its new Midnight imprint, a horror-focused initiative designed to bring superhero narratives into darker, more visceral territory. The imprint aims to attract new readers through high-concept, grim storytelling similar to DC's Absolute line.
One of the cornerstone releases is Midnight: Spider-Man #1, written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson with art by ScieTronc. This new continuity features a darker Peter Parker and replaces the iconic phrase “with great power comes great responsibility” with “power makes monsters.” The issue explores a more nihilistic world where Peter is summoned to Oscorp and faces significant trauma.
Other titles in the imprint include Midnight Fantastic Four #1, which features a reimagined version of the team, including a disgraced Reed Richards and Susan Storm.
