Marvel Announces 'Avengers: Endgame Encore' Re‑Release with New Footage Ahead of 'Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel Studios confirmed that the 2019 blockbuster *Avengers: Endgame* will return to cinemas on 25 September 2026 under the new title **Avengers: Endgame Encore**. The event will feature a custom introduction, newly shot footage that bridges the story to the upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday*, and a special end tag. The added material will be shown only in premium‑large‑format venues certified under Disney’s newly launched **Infinity Vision** brand and on IMAX screens.
Infinity Vision is Disney’s global certification for premium large‑format (PLF) theatres. More than 7,500 screens worldwide have applied for the badge, which requires a minimum 45‑foot screen, immersive sound systems such as Dolby Atmos or 7.1, and specific brightness levels. Disney presented the programme at CineEurope in Barcelona, describing it as a way to help audiences identify the “best possible cinema experience.”
The re‑release is positioned as a narrative bridge to *Avengers: Doomsday*, scheduled for worldwide release on 18 December 2026. *Doomsday* will bring together the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X‑Men against Doctor Doom, with returning stars such as Robert Downey Jr. as Doom, Chris Evans as Captain America, and a rumored appearance by Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye. The new footage in *Endgame Encore* is expected to hint at the multiversal fallout that leads to Doom’s campaign.
Joe Russo told reporters, “It’s critically important to re‑release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re‑releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to *Avengers: Endgame*.” The combined strategy aims to boost audience excitement and drive premium‑screen attendance ahead of the December tentpole.
