Marvel releases Darth Vader prequel comic for Rogue One anniversary

Marvel Comics has released Star Wars: Rogue One – Darth Vader #1, a standalone one-shot comic celebrating the 10th anniversary of the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The issue is set shortly before the movie's events and follows Darth Vader as he is sent by the Emperor to secure kyber crystals on the planet Harreld.

The story depicts Vader intervening after Director Orson Krennic fails to negotiate mining rights with the planet's leader, Harqque. The comic explores Vader's brutal methods in enforcing the Empire's will to obtain the crystals necessary for the Death Star's superlaser. This release serves as the final installment in a series of character-focused comics released throughout 2026, which also included spotlights on Cassian Andor, Jyn Erso, Saw Gerrera, and Chirrut and Baze.
