Marvel Studios announces X-Men cast and Avengers re-release

Marvel Studios has announced several major updates for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) during the D23 event. A special encore presentation of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is scheduled to return to theaters starting September 25, 2026. This remastered version will include exclusive footage and a sneak peek of the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, which is slated for release in December 2026. Market estimates suggest ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is already generating significant interest, with projected pre-sales exceeding $35 million.

Additionally, Marvel revealed the cast for the highly anticipated ‘X-Men’ reboot, scheduled for release on May 5, 2028. The announced cast includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as the antagonist Mister Sinister. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased the long-term potential of this young ensemble, suggesting the franchise could span many more films.

Rumors regarding ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ also suggest the film may feature serious post-credit scenes intended to set up ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, potentially including appearances by characters like Spider-Man and Wolverine.
