Marvel Studios' VisionQuest to premiere on Disney+ October 14

Marvel Studios is set to release “VisionQuest” on Disney+ on October 14, marking the conclusion of a television trilogy that began with “WandaVision” and continued with “Agatha All Along”. The series stars Paul Bettany as Vision, who, after escaping those seeking to weaponize him, seeks a new purpose by consulting AI personas like JARVIS, FRIDAY, EDITH, and Ultron (played by James Spader).

Early reactions from critics and attendees at New York Comic Con have been highly positive, with the production described as “trippy and transcendent” and a “genuine love letter to WandaVision”. The series explores themes of identity, grief, and trauma, specifically focusing on the relationship between Vision and Thomas Shepard, a young man who may be the reincarnation of his son.

Showrunner Terry Matalas has intentionally kept certain characters, such as the android Jocasta played by T’Nia Miller, hidden from promotional materials to preserve surprises. The production also features a high level of confidence from the studio, evidenced by an early review embargo lift. Paul Bettany noted the challenges of filming in England for five months away from his family during the production.
