Marvel Studios hides Avengers: Doomsday returns with fake script names
Marvel Studios used fake character names in the script of the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday to conceal major surprise appearances and multiversal returns. Actor Alan Cumming, known for playing Nightcrawler, said the scripts listed characters under alternative names, making them difficult to read and confusing for the cast.
The secrecy measure aims to prevent leaks ahead of the film’s release, scheduled for December 18, 2026. The movie is expected to feature a large ensemble of heroes and villains from across the MCU, as well as characters from the former Fox and Sony universes, with Robert Downey Jr. slated to portray Doctor Doom. Marvel’s tactic reflects the high stakes of preserving surprise in a highly anticipated crossover event.
