Marvel expands ecosystem with new Magic: The Gathering set and Avengers updates

Marvel and Wizards of the Coast are expanding their collaborative ecosystem through upcoming releases. Wizards of the Coast has announced 'Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny', a new Universes Beyond expansion scheduled for release on April 9, 2027. This set will focus on supernatural characters such as Doctor Strange, Blade, and Scarlet Witch, centered around the cursed Darkhold book and the Dark Dimension. The product lineup will include boosters, Commander decks, and Scene Boxes.

In the film sector, anticipation is building for 'Avengers: Doomsday', featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Promotional displays at New York Comic Con showcased artifacts like a piece of the Venom symbiote and Cyclops’ visor, framing Doom as a collector of multiversal items. Additionally, Samuel L. Jackson has confirmed that his character, Nick Fury, will return in a subsequent film following 'Doomsday', specifically in 'Avengers: Secret Wars'.

Merchandising and cross-promotions are also active, including an exclusive Magic: The Gathering card offer for Regal Crown Club members during the opening weekend of 'Avengers: Doomsday' in December 2026. Other upcoming Marvel projects include various Disney+ series and a slate of films extending through 2029.
