Marvel Studios reportedly planning Iceman for X-Men reboot

Marvel Studios is reportedly planning to include Bobby Drake, also known as Iceman, in its upcoming X-Men film reboot. According to industry insiders Alex Perez and Daniel Richtman, the character's inclusion would bring one of Marvel Comics' most prominent gay superheroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

In comic book canon, Iceman has been identified as gay since 2015. If the film follows this established history, it would mark the introduction of an openly gay hero in the new X-Men franchise. Iceman is one of the original five X-Men members, alongside Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, and Angel.

The untitled reboot is currently projected for a May 5, 2028, release. While Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed the casting or the character's presence, reports suggest the film will be directed by Jake Schreier with a script by Michael Lesslie.
