Marvel Studios shifts MCU strategy toward films and scales back Disney+ series

Marvel Studios is shifting its production strategy for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following the upcoming series ‘VisionQuest’, which is expected to conclude a trilogy including ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along’, Marvel is reportedly scaling back its live-action series offensive on Disney+.

According to reports, the studio plans to move away from frequent new live-action series in favor of smaller specials and feature films, such as ‘Punisher: One Last Kill’ or ‘Werewolf by Night’. While existing projects like ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will proceed, the era of large-scale Disney+ series expansions appears to be reaching a conclusion.

In terms of major film releases, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled for theatrical release on December 16, 2026, followed by the next installment on December 15, 2027. The cast for the upcoming Avengers films includes several returning actors such as Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and Tom Hiddleston, alongside new additions like Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic and Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman.
