Marvel Studios shifts Disney+ strategy toward independent series

Marvel Studios is shifting its strategy for Disney+ series, moving away from expensive, large-scale productions that are deeply integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The new approach aims to reduce costs and prevent the brand from feeling diluted by making series more independent and self-contained.

Under this new directive, future live-action projects will likely be smaller in scale and less essential to the overarching film plots. This includes potential development under banners such as ‘Marvel Presents’ or ‘Marvel Spotlight,’ focusing on street-level heroes or standalone stories. While major productions like ‘Loki’ were considered large-scale experiments to compete with other streaming platforms, the studio is now prioritizing the cinematic franchise.

Despite the reduction in massive streaming projects, Marvel continues to develop several live-action series. Some upcoming projects may connect to the X-Men reboot, and certain existing series, such as ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ are expected to continue.
