Marvel's X‑Men Reboot Casts Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Rumors Circle Storm Role

Marvel Studios is developing an X‑Men reboot directed by Jake Schreier, with the screenplay being rewritten by Lee Sung‑Jin and Joanna Calo. The film has officially entered pre‑production as of August 2025 and is slated to debut after the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars.

The casting of Samara Weaving as the mutant Emma Frost has been reported by several outlets and confirmed by the studio, marking the character’s first major appearance in the MCU in 15 years. Weaving, known for roles in "Ready or Not" and "Sinners," will portray the telepathic White Queen.

Separately, an unverified social‑media claim suggests that Jayme Lawson, known for "The Batman" and "The Penguin," may be cast as Storm, the weather‑controlling mutant. Marvel has not confirmed this rumor and no major trade publications have corroborated it.

The reboot also includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, previously announced in "Spider‑Man: Brand New Day." The project follows Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which opened the door for mutants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
