Director Joe Russo told CBR that the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday will be the franchise’s most emotionally complex and mature installment, packed with numerous surprises for audiences. The movie will feature Robert Downey Jr. returning in a surprise role as Doctor Doom, signaling a new “Phase Zero” reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the post‑Endgame era.

The Russo brothers highlighted that the film aims to provide an “antidote” to audience fatigue following Infinity War and Endgame, with a storyline designed to feel fresh and unpredictable. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for a December 16 release in Sweden and is expected to roll out worldwide later this year.
