Marvel prepares major releases for Avengers: Doomsday and VisionQuest
Marvel Studios is preparing several major expansions to its cinematic and comic universes. The theatrical re-release of ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ is scheduled for September 25, 2026, featuring new footage tied to ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ The re-release has seen historic presale momentum, particularly in China and the domestic US market, surpassing previous benchmarks for theatrical rereleases.
In the upcoming Disney+ series ‘VisionQuest,’ set to premiere on October 14, the story explores Vision’s internal struggle as he navigates his identity alongside various artificial intelligence personas like FRIDAY and EDITH. The series is expected to introduce elements of the Young Avengers, including the character Tommy Maximoff (Speed), and will address themes following the events of ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along.’ Showrunner Terry Matalas has confirmed that generative AI was not used in the production of the series.
In Marvel Comics, a new era is beginning with ‘Maximum X-Men,’ launching this December following the events of ‘Avengers: Armageddon.’ The series will follow Storm, Wolverine, and Colossus as they step up to protect Earth in the absence of the Avengers. Additionally, the comics are introducing Miracleman to the Avengers lineup in ‘Avengers #1,’ marking a significant shift for the team following the ‘Armageddon’ storyline.
