Marvel's Wolverine hits $130M in sales despite mixed reviews

Marvel's Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games, has achieved significant commercial success despite mixed critical reception and online controversy. According to estimates from Alinea Analytics, the PlayStation 5 title sold approximately 1.9 million copies within its first three days, generating roughly $130 million in gross revenue. This performance makes it the highest-performing new PlayStation Studios release on PS5 this year, surpassing titles like Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yōtei.

While sales are strong, the game has faced criticism regarding its linear design, combat depth, and excessive gameplay guidance. In response to player feedback, Insomniac released hotfix 1.001.005 to reduce the visual intensity of the 'Scent Trail' and audio indicators. The studio also addressed rumors regarding the use of AI-generated art, clarifying that a visual glitch on a restroom sign was actually a 'UV map bug' rather than AI assets.

Additionally, reports from social media suggest potential censorship in Middle Eastern versions of the game, with players alleging that references to the relationship between characters Mystique and Tyger were removed or altered to comply with regional laws.
