Marvel’s Wolverine tops US video game sales for September 2026
Marvel’s Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games, became the best-selling video game in the United States for September 2026. According to analyst Mat Piscatella of Circana, the PlayStation 5 exclusive led the charts in both physical and digital dollar sales for the period between August 30 and October 3.
Despite receiving mixed reviews from some community members regarding its linear progression and combat mechanics, the title achieved significant commercial success. It recorded the highest launch month revenue for a Sony-published title since Helldivers 2 in February 2024. The game also debuted as the 11th best-selling game of the year in the US.
In the broader hardware market, PlayStation 5 sales saw growth, with unit sales increasing by 22% compared to September 2025. Conversely, Xbox Series console sales experienced a decline, marking the worst September in the ecosystem's history. Meanwhile, NBA 2K27 maintains its position as the best-selling game year-to-date in the United States, having surpassed Resident Evil: Requiem.
