Marvel’s Wolverine reaches gold status ahead of September 2026 release

Insomniac Games has announced that Marvel’s Wolverine has officially reached ‘gold status,’ meaning the primary development of the PlayStation 5 exclusive is complete. The game is on track for its scheduled release on September 15, 2026.

New details regarding gameplay and customization have been revealed. The combat system features three levels of rage, special techniques like ‘Tornado Spin,’ and exploration in locations such as Madripoor. The Digital Deluxe Edition will offer five exclusive suits—including ‘Age of Apocalypse’ and ‘Incredible’—along with five unique claw variants.

To coincide with the launch, themed hardware including a ‘Battle Yellow’ PlayStation 5 console and DualSense controllers is also entering pre-sale. The game is expected to feature a more linear and brutal tone compared to the Spider-Man series, with developers citing the 2009 title ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ as a stylistic reference for its aggressive combat.
