Producer Larry Houston confirmed that the two‑year hiatus between X‑Men ’97’s first season (premiered March 2024) and its second season (debuting July 1, 2024 on Disney+) was a “one‑off” production issue. The studio has re‑engineered its workflow to avoid such delays, promising a shorter wait for the upcoming third season, now slated for a 2027 launch with an accelerated, possibly annual, release cadence. Season 3 is also expected to have a leaner episode count than earlier seasons, allowing tighter storytelling and reducing production strain.

The second‑season trailer revealed the comic‑book villain the Brood, marking their first appearance in any major X‑Men adaptation and hinting at broader cosmic storylines. Alongside the production updates, the trailer introduced Polaris and confirmed Apocalypse’s central role in the season’s arc.
