Mary Berry discusses pragmatic garden planning for her future

Dame Mary Berry, the former Great British Bake Off host, has shared how she is planning her garden at her riverside home in Henley-on-Thames with her advanced age in mind.

Speaking on the 'Grow, Cook, Eat, Arrange' podcast, the 91-year-old baker explained that she and her husband Paul, 93, chose to purchase larger yew trees rather than waiting for small ones to grow. She noted the decision was pragmatic, stating that if they had waited for smaller trees to mature, she might not be around to see them, remarking, "Well I'll be in heaven then."

The trees were installed at the front of their property to provide privacy from passersby. Berry and her husband moved to the Grade II listed property in 2019, downsizing from their previous six-bedroom residence in Buckinghamshire.
