Mary Ellen Buhler launches Lake Country mayoral campaign

Mary Ellen Buhler has officially launched her campaign for the mayorship of Lake Country, entering a three-person race for the position. Buhler, a political newcomer, will compete against incumbent mayor Blair Ireland and fellow newcomer Priscila Brunetto in the 2026 General Local Elections scheduled for October 17.

Buhler’s platform focuses on addressing the pressures that community growth places on district infrastructure. Her primary priorities include responsible spending, reliable water systems and infrastructure, thoughtful growth management, and the creation of safe, resilient neighborhoods. She also aims to support local businesses and ensure municipal hall remains transparent and accountable to residents.

Drawing on her experience as an education assistant, strata president, and former senior professional in the retail and human resources sectors, Buhler intends to leverage her background in governance, budgeting, and infrastructure planning. As part of her campaign outreach, she plans to host virtual coffee chats with residents on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
