Mary J. Blige partners with Primary Wave Music

Singer Mary J. Blige has entered into a partnership with Primary Wave Music covering her catalog of compositions and recordings. The deal includes several of her major hits, such as ‘Family Affair’, ‘Be Without You’, and ‘Real Love’.

Under the agreement, Blige and her team will utilize Primary Wave’s marketing, digital, and publishing infrastructure to manage branding and synchronization opportunities. This transaction follows a trend of high-profile music catalog sales involving prominent Black artists in the hip hop, R&B, and soul genres.

Primary Wave has previously engaged in similar partnerships with the estates of Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, James Brown, and The Notorious B.I.G., often involving songwriting copyrights, master recordings, and rights to an artist’s name and likeness.
